Cable Glands

Cable Glands are designed to terminate cables in to flameproof or increased safety equipment in hazardous areas. They provide a weather and gas-proof sealed connection between cable and equipment, prevent the cable being pulled out or twisted and provide a grounding of the cable armor. The Cost of a cable gland is insignificant when compared to that of the other equipment. However, the cost of failure is high. Thought some cable glands may be “fit for purpose” what would be the potential cost of failure? The cable gland can become the weak link in the chain whereas it should preserve the integrity of the installation.
